1 Corinthians 9:24-25
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-25
I am not a runner! Actually I despise running. I was the kid in high school that walked the mile run. I thought I could go my whole life without ever needing to run and then I am reminded of this verse. This is not a physical race to see who is the fastest. This is a spiritual race and the prize is eternal. God wants us to exercise our spiritual muscles, so to speak. If a runner does not train then they will be unable to complete the race. So what are you doing to stay spiritually fit so that you can keep on running the race that God has put in front of you? Are you spending time with Him? Are you getting to know Him through His word? Are you serving Him with your gifts and talents? Be intentional about your spiritual life. The payoff lasts forever!
