Galatians 1:6-10
There Is Only One Good News
6 I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who in his love and mercy called you to share the eternal life he gives through Christ. You are already following a different way
7 that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all.
You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning Christ.
8 Let God's curse fall on anyone, including myself,
who preaches any other message than the one we told you about.
Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed.
9 I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one you welcomed, let God's curse fall upon that person.
10 Obviously, I'm not trying to be a people pleaser! No, I am trying to please God.
If I were still trying to please people, I would not be Christ's servant.
(NLT)
This why we need to know our Bibles. This is why we need to know scripture. This is why we need to let the Holy Spirit teach us and guide us so that when false teachers come, and they will come, we will know the truth and not be swayed from the truth. We need to know the Good News and to live the Good News of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are not to have our ears tickled but to be feeding on the meat of God’s Word. The time of drinking the milk is over and it is time to move on to solid food. The solid food will change you from the inside out into what Jesus wants you to be. We are not to listen to the “feel good messages” but feed on every word that Jesus says. We are not here to please people, we are not here to please ourselves but to preach the gospel and to live the gospel for all to see. We are to be doing what is pleasing to God because nothing else matters. And everything that pleases God is in His Word. There is only one way to heaven, there is only one way to God and that is faith in Jesus Christ who died for your sin, was buried and rose again so that you can have salvation. That is our life. That is our mission to share with everyone the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Live it, breath it, eat it, sleep it, share it and walk it.

Galatians 1:1-5
1 This letter is from Paul, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group or by human authority. My call is from Jesus Christ himself and from God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead.
2 All the brothers and sisters here join me in sending greetings to the churches of Galatia.
3 May grace and peace be yours from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 He died for our sins, just as God our Father planned,
in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.
5 That is why all glory belongs to God through all the ages of eternity. Amen.
(NLT)
God is in control of everything at every moment without fail. God planned you, God planned your salvation and God planned to rescue you from this evil world that you live in. We may not understand everything God is doing or has done but we can be sure of one thing and that is we can put our faith in Him. Sin runs rampant in this world and it destroys lives. But rest assured that God has a plan for you and God has a calling for you. In scripture we can see the plans He has for us and see what His will is as well. God did not leave us to live our lives alone. Just as Paul’s call from Jesus Christ to be an apostle so Jesus calls us to follow His example in this life. We all have been called to be missionaries, ministers and ambassadors for Jesus Christ to share the gospel with this sinful world we live in. God wants to restore in us what has been damaged by sin. We see this as a long process here on earth but God sees it as only a moment in time. That is why all honor and glory belongs to God through all the ages of eternity. Trust Him, put your faith in Him and live your life for Him.

Paul's Final Greetings
21 Give my greetings to all the Christians there.
The brothers who are with me here send you their greetings.
22 And all the other Christians send their greetings, too,
especially those who work in Caesar's palace.
23 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
(NLT)
Wherever you work or wherever you go let the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit and flow from it. There is no job anywhere that we should shy away from. Why? Just as there were Christians working in Caesar’s palace we too should as Christians be working in all forms of Government, if we are called to do so. God calls us to work with and witness to sinners right where they are because God sent someone to us right where we were. The Holy Spirit uses us to keep balance in the work place. We are to let the Holy Spirit guide us and use us to be a witness in every walk of life. We are needed everywhere. We are to go make disciples wherever we are, not just at church but wherever God has placed us. We are all missionaries. Be a missionary right where you are.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

Philippians 4:18-20
18 At the moment I have all I need — more than I need!
I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus.
They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable to God and pleases him.
19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches,
which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
20 Now glory be to God our Father forever and ever. Amen.
(NLT)
God will supply all your needs. Why do we worry when God is so faithful? God never lies. He always does exactly what He says He will do. But we still won’t believe He will. Why? Satan wants to steal our joy in the Lord. He wants us to worry and not believe. He is a liar and the father of lies. Why do we believe the lie instead of the truth? God has so much to give us, beyond what we can imagine and love overflowing. When we obey, when we sacrifice for others and think nothing about ourselves God is pleased. It is a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable to God. Our God is a selfless God who gives and gives and gives and gives. Our God owns everything because He created everything. God will take care of you no matter what. He supplied everything Paul needed when Paul needed it because He put his trust and faith in a living God who answers prayer to those who believe. God is waiting for you, trust Him, believe in Him, and depend on Him. All things have been given to us by the inheritance that we have in Christ Jesus. Trust Him. God will supply all your needs.

Philippians 4:15-17
15 As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help
when I brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia.
No other church did this.
16 Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once.
17 I don't say this because I want a gift from you.
What I want is for you to receive a well-earned reward because of your kindness.
(NLT)
We give not to bring notice to ourselves but to bring honor to God by supplying financial help to those doing the work of the ministry. We are to give as God has given to us. If we are unwilling to give God will have someone else who will. God wants to use you to bring honor and glory to Himself. He wants you to be a participant not a spectator. Just think of the honor God bestows upon us to use us to bring Him glory. God is thinking of you. God is offering you an opportunity to serve, to witness, to love, to teach or to pray so that we may bring Him glory and magnify His name. We are to do all things with glad and joyful hearts knowing that our God and Lord Jesus Christ is being up lifted with glory and honor. If we do all that God wants us to do with a pure and humble heart God will reward you because of your kindness and obedience.

Philippians 4:10-14
10 How grateful I am, and how I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but for a while you didn't have the chance to help me.
11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little.
12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything.
I have learned the secret of living in every situation,
whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
13 For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need.
14 But even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty. (NLT)
As we live this life here on earth in the Lord Jesus Christ we are to learn to be content with what God gives us. Whether it is much or little we are to be content. We must remember that it is God who determines who is capable of handling much or little. Each has its purpose to do for the Lord. We must be happy with wherever God has placed us. If we are not happy with where we are do not blame God for He knows what you can truly handle. Therefore the secret of living in every situation is to know that in everything you do Christ will supply the strength you need in every situation. The focus is always Jesus. Depend of the one who supplies your every need because He will never leave you or forsake you.

Philippians 4:8-9
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter.
Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right.
Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
9 Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you. (NLT)
Fix your thoughts on these eight things, what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and worthy of praise. God wants us to change how we think from worldly thoughts to Godly thoughts. As Roman 12:2 says, “Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.” (NLT) We are to focus our thoughts upward -- not horizontally or downward -- our thoughts are to be about Christ. Our focus is to be on Christ. The enemy of God wants to attack our minds so that we do not think of Christ. But we are to resist the enemy and turn our attention to Jesus.
As an athlete practices for his event we too are to keep on practicing what we have learned in Christ; day in and day out, moment by moment. We are to run the race that God has set before us and depend on Him throughout the race so that we will complete His will in us.
We are to emulate Christ and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:6-7
6 Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
7 If you do this, you will experience God's peace,
which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.
His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
(NLT)
Don’t worry; even stop worrying -- instead pray, pray about everything and anything. Tell God what you need, what you want, how you feel, how wonderful God is to you and thank Him for everything He has done for you. Pray to Him and praise Him even in the hard times for God never ever gives you more than you can handle. If it seems that God has given you a lot to handle that just means He thinks a great deal of you. In doing all of this you will experience God’s peace and God’s peace is far better and more wonderful than you can ever imagine. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus for there is no better place to be than in Christ. And when you are in Christ’s hands you are also in the hands of God your creator and nothing can take you out of His hands.

4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again — rejoice!
5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.
Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
(NLT)
Rejoice and again I say Rejoice!
The Lord wants us to rejoice and rejoice in the Lord Jesus. He wants us to be full of joy because of what Jesus did on the cross for us. We are not to look gloomy or sad even in the midst of trails and tribulations. Even in hardship we should rejoice for our God is always there for us even when we feel that He is not He is. Let everyone see your joy of the Lord in all that you do and everywhere you go. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

2 And now I want to plead with those two women, Euodia and Syntyche.
Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement.
3 And I ask you, my true teammate, to help these women,
for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News.
And they worked with Clement and the rest of my co-workers,
whose names are written in the Book of Life.
(NLT)
Because we belong to the Lord and that God tells us to forgive each other because He forgave us, therefore we are to settle our disagreements with each other. We are not to hold grudges but to humble ourselves before God and to work things out. Disagreements will arise from time to time but God instructs us to work through the issues and come to a conclusion or agreement. And while we are working through the issues we need to also be praying and seeking God on the matters at hand. Do not make the mistake of leaving God out of the picture.
We are teammates with one another and we are to help those in disagreements work together with the Lord to work through the issues. A family works things out. We are all to be working together in sharing the Good News of the gospel therefore we need to be united together in Christ for Satan wants nothing short of us fighting and squabbling with each other. We are to band together with Christ to fight against the enemy because our names are written in the Book of Life and we are marked by the Holy Spirit as His children. So be on the alert, for the enemy is watching for an opportunity to try to separate us from one another.
Bond with Christ and each other.

Philippians 4:1
1 Dear brothers and sisters, I love you and long to see you, for you are my joy and the reward for my work.
So please stay true to the Lord, my dear friends.
(NLT)
Stay true to the Lord Jesus Christ. Share not only the gospel of Jesus Christ but share your life and your time with those who need Him. Teach them the way of Jesus and His word. For those you share with will become a joy to your heart and a reward stored in heaven. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ let us align ourselves with the Lord Jesus and to look forward to the work that He has for us to accomplish. Surrender yourselves therefore to His will to let the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth so that all praise and glory will be given to our Lord and King Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way.

Philippians 3:18-21
Pressing toward the Goal
18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes,
that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ.
19 Their future is eternal destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and all they think about is this life here on earth.
20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives.
And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.
21 He will take these weak mortal bodies of ours and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same mighty power that he will use to conquer everything, everywhere. (NLT)
Be on guard for those who would have you turn to the ways of this world. For we who have believed in Christ are not citizens of this world but we are the children of God and citizens of heaven. For our time here is short, we are only passing through and we are waiting for the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And while we are here we are to be about the business of spreading the gospel of the kingdom of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are not to be idle but be examples of Christ to others, to emulate Christ in us and to let His light shine through us. For all power and authority has been given to Jesus in heaven and on earth and soon our bodies will be changed into glorious bodies like His own and we will be with Him forever. So then, be on the alert against the enemy of God and be ready to share Christ at any moment. Praise be to our conquering King of everything and everywhere.

Philippians 3:17
Pressing toward the Goal
17 Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. (NLT)
Ephesians 5:1-2
Living in the Light
1 Follow God's example in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
2 Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, because that sacrifice was like sweet perfume to him. (NLT)
1 Timothy 1:15-17
God’s Mercy
15 This is a true saying, and everyone should believe it: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — and I was the worst of them all.
16 But that is why God had mercy on me, so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.
17 Glory and honor to God forever and ever. He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. (NLT)
1 Timothy 4:5
A Good Servant of Christ Jesus
1 Tim 4:12
12 Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. (NLT)
1 Peter 2:21-25
Follower of Christ
21 This suffering is all part of what God has called you to. Christ, who suffered for you, is your example. Follow in his steps.
22 He never sinned, and he never deceived anyone.
23 He did not retaliate when he was insulted. When he suffered, he did not threaten to get even. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.
24 He personally carried away our sins in his own body on the cross so we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. You have been healed by his wounds!
25 Once you were wandering like lost sheep. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls. (NLT)
Therefore let us all be followers of Christ’s example and follow the examples of those who truly are living for Christ. Follow Christ’s example to the glory and praise and honor of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.

15 I hope all of you who are mature Christians will agree on these things.
If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.
16 But we must be sure to obey the truth we have learned already.
(NLT)
Everything Paul has said up to this point he hopes that all who are mature will agree about these things. If you disagree pray and let God show you or make it plain to you what He wants you to believe. Never go off on what you think, feel or even believe but make sure it is from God’s Word and that God has Himself shown it to you. But even if you disagree for the moment remember to be sure to obey the truth you have already learned. For each person is in a different place in the process of becoming a mature Christian and those who are more mature must remember to be patient with those who are not there yet, but to give room for growth. Hold to the truth of God’s Words and let the Holy Spirit teach and guide you along your path.

Pressing toward the Goal
Philippians 3:12-14
12 I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection! But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be.
13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
14 I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. (NLT)
We are in a process of change. We have not arrived at perfection (maturity) but each day we need to put the past behind us and press forward to the upward and higher calling in Christ Jesus. We are not to give up but keep working toward the call of God. We are to put forth all our energies to that which God has called us to and the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are not racing against each other but the race God has set before us to run for Him. We press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Our relationship with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit must be our top priority each and every day. As God has said “Draw near to me and I will draw near to you” and “Be ye holy for I am Holy.” Therefore strive to reach the calling of God in your life. May God richly bless you through your praising and glorifing Him.

The Priceless Gain of Knowing Christ
Philippians 3:3-11
(3 For we who worship God in the Spirit are the only ones who are truly circumcised.
We put no confidence in human effort. Instead, we boast about what Christ Jesus has done for us.
4 Yet I could have confidence in myself if anyone could. If others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more!
5 For I was circumcised when I was eight days old, having been born into a pure-blooded Jewish family that is a branch of the tribe of Benjamin. So I am a real Jew if there ever was one! What's more, I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law.
6 And zealous? Yes, in fact, I harshly persecuted the church. And I obeyed the Jewish law so carefully that I was never accused of any fault.)
7 I once thought all these things were so very important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.
8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I may have Christ
9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own goodness or my ability to obey God's law, but I trust Christ to save me. For God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith.
10 As a result, I can really know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I can learn what it means to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
11 so that, somehow, I can experience the resurrection from the dead!
(NLT)
We came into this world with nothing and we will leave this word with nothing. The world gives us nothing but only takes from us. All that we do gain on this earth we will not take with us nor does it ever truly belong to us. The most important thing in life, the most priceless thing in life and the one thing that is considered gain is knowing Christ Jesus. Everything else is worthless and vanity. We can not trust in ourselves or our goodness but only trust in God’s way of making us right with Him which depends on faith. Faith in the Christ that God sent to return us to Him. So that we can really know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. We can learn what it means to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that, somehow, we can experience the resurrection from the dead! If we then have accepted Christ as our savior then we do have one thing we take with us when we leave and that is our salvation through Christ. Unfortunately some will not. But thanks to the Lord Jesus that He has given us the message of the gospel to share with others so that they too can be saved. Therefore we must share this message of salvation through Christ Jesus to this lost and dying world. For Jesus is the only thing worth living for and dying for.

If we are to boast we are only to boast of Christ and what He has done for us and through us. Here Paul shows that he could boast beyond any Jew according the Jewish law. But that is not what he wants to boast about. He only wants to think of Christ. He wants to show the importance of putting Christ first in your life. That nothing else is more important than Christ. Earlier in his life he did everything for the wrong reasons no matter how right it seemed to be at the time. Christ is to be our all in all. Christ must come first otherwise it is meaningless and selfish. Surrender to Christ today and let Him have His way in you for He will fill your life with unspeakable joy.

The Priceless Gain of Knowing Christ
Philippians 3:1-3
1 Whatever happens, dear brothers and sisters, may the Lord give you joy.
I never get tired of telling you this. I am doing this for your own good.
2 Watch out for those dogs, those wicked men and their evil deeds,
those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved.
3 For we who worship God in the Spirit are the only ones who are truly circumcised.
We put no confidence in human effort. Instead, we boast about what Christ Jesus has done for us.
(NLT)
We should never get tired of hearing the Word of God for it is for our own good to continually hear and read His word. Therefore we need to continually hear His Word so that we are constantly reminded to do His Word and be obedient children to the gospel. Be watchful for the wicked men and women and their evil deeds for they want nothing more than to distract us from God’s work. We are in a spiritual battle, as soldiers for Christ we must be ready at all times against the enemy. Do not put any confidence in the flesh but instead boast about what Christ Jesus has done and is doing in you. The Word of God is a two edge blade that evil cannot stand against therefore stand firm on the Word of God.

Philippians 2:26-30
26 Now I am sending him home again, for he has been longing to see you,
and he was very distressed that you heard he was ill.
27 And he surely was ill; in fact, he almost died. But God had mercy on him
— and also on me, so that I would not have such unbearable sorrow.
28 So I am all the more anxious to send him back to you,
for I know you will be glad to see him, and that will lighten all my cares.
29 Welcome him with Christian love and with great joy, and be sure to honor people like him.
30 For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while trying
to do for me the things you couldn't do because you were far away.
(NLT)
The missionaries that we support through the church or individually -- we should praise God for them and welcome them with love when they return to us. We should rejoice greatly to hear their report of all that God is doing in them and through them for we are partners with them. We are to show them honor even double honor for the work God has called them to do. For when they come and share their work we need to be asking ourselves this question, are we risking even our own lives for the work of Christ? Just because we support missionaries does not let us off the hook of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to spreading the gospel and supporting others just as the Philippians were doing. It is good for us to send people from our church to where the missionaries are to assist them in our partnership with them and each one of us who are able need to go, not just a few but each one of us. For we all have been called to participate in the spreading of the gospel. Be praying to God to see when it is your turn to go. For God will provide everything for you to go. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, soul, spirit and strength and He will direct your life for His glory.

Philippians 2:25
25 Meanwhile, I thought I should send Epaphroditus back to you.
He is a true brother, a faithful worker, and a courageous soldier.
And he was your messenger to help me in my need.
(NLT)
Epaphroditus came from the church in Philippi to Paul to minister to him in his imprisonment in Rome. Do others say of you that you are a true brother or sister, a faithful worker or a courageous soldier for Christ? Are you? If not, why not? Epaphroditus is one of those persons in the Bible who is just an ordinary man doing his best to serve the Lord Jesus any way he can. There was nothing overly special about him but he demonstrates true love and willingness to serve Christ. Our continual goal is to grow in Christ to be true brothers and sisters to one another, to be faithful workers, to be courageous soldiers and contagious followers of Christ. We need to be messengers and ministers to help others in their time of need. We can do all things in Christ who strengthens us.

Philippians 2:22-24
22 But you know how Timothy has proved himself. Like a son with his father, he has helped me in preaching the Good News.
23 I hope to send him to you just as soon as I find out what is going to happen to me here.
24 And I have confidence from the Lord that I myself will come to see you soon.
(NLT)
Each generation needs to mentor the next generation in preaching the Good News. Each man and woman needs to mentor not only their own children but also other children, teenagers and young adults. Paul took Timothy under his wing and continued the discipleship process that began with his mother and grandmother. You can read all the books you want on how to do practically anything but until you actually do it the information you have read is useless. Experience coupled with knowledge and wisdom produces true growth. We can read the Bible all we want, know every verse by heart but if we do not do what the Bible says to do every day the information in our heads is useless. God wants to take you on a journey. Like Paul and Timothy, God wants to continue your discipleship process and He will use others in your life to guide you where He wants you to go and what He wants you to do. We need to experience Jesus so that we can help the next generation experience Jesus.
