Mark 14:22-26
The Last Supper
22 As they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread and asked God's blessing on it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take it, for this is my body."  23 And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 And he said to them, "This is my blood, poured out for many, sealing the covenant between God and his people.  25 I solemnly declare that I will not drink wine again until that day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God."  26 Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives. (NLT)
Jesus poured out His blood for us to seal the covenant between God and us. Without the outpouring of His blood we would not have salvation. When you take communion you take it before the Lord. It is not something to take lightly but seriously. You are to examine yourselves or examine your heart before God and confess any offences to Him before you partake or do not partake. If you take it lightly God will hold you accountable for it. Therefore partake with a clean heart and rejoice in the Lord Jesus Christ for His broken and beaten body and for His shed blood for your salvation. It is a time to remember everything that Jesus has done for you. Rejoice in the Lord and again I say Rejoice.
