Mark 1:21-22
21 Jesus and his companions went to the town of Capernaum,
and every Sabbath day he went into the synagogue and taught the people.
22 They were amazed at his teaching, for he taught as one who had real authority —
quite unlike the teachers of religious law.
(NLT)
Jesus taught in the synagogue every Sabbath day. This is where we need to be every week, in church, to be taught the Word by Jesus. Only Jesus has the real authority to teach us His Word. He has chosen and called pastors to go and teach His Word so that we will go out to this lost and dying world and share His message of His death, burial and resurrection. It is not for us to sit in the pews and do nothing but hear the Word. It is meant for us not only to hear the Word but to do the Word. We are to hear what we are supposed to do and then we are to go out and do it, to live it, to let it shine forth from us, to share it, to give it away and to let it live through us. We were created to be doers, not sitters, not quitters, not complainers, not whiners but doers of the Word of God. This is a privilege that has been given to us and it is a privilege to be performed for the glory and honor of our Savior Jesus Christ. Therefore be a doer of the Word.
