Words of Encouragement – Patience

James 5:10-11

10 For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. Job is an example of a man who endured patiently. From his experience we see how the Lord's plan finally ended in good, for he is full of tenderness and mercy. (NLT)

To learn patience and how to endure suffering we must turn to the scriptures and those who have modeled patience. Of course, one of the best examples is Job. Job loved God and obeyed God to the very end. Job never doubted God or turned his back on God but continued in faith believe God’s will be done regardless of the final outcome. From his experience we see how the Lord's plan finally ended in good, for he is full of tenderness and mercy. Regardless of our circumstance, God is on our side and He is full of tenderness, mercy, grace and love. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (NLT) Wait patiently on the Lord and He will bring it to pass.
