Mark 5:27-34
Jesus Heals in Response to Faith
27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him
through the crowd and touched the fringe of his robe.
28 For she thought to herself, "If I can just touch his clothing,
I will be healed."
29 Immediately the bleeding stopped,
and she could feel that she had been healed!
30 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him,
so he turned around in the crowd and asked,
"Who touched my clothes?"
31 His disciples said to him, "All this crowd is pressing around you.
How can you ask, 'Who touched me?' "
32 But he kept on looking around to see who had done it.
33 Then the frightened woman,
trembling at the realization of what had happened to her,
came and fell at his feet and told him what she had done.
34 And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well.
Go in peace. You have been healed."
(NLT)
She had heard about Jesus and because she had nowhere else to turn she turned to Jesus. She believed in her heart that by touching the fringe of His robe she would be healed and she was. Romans 10:10 says, For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God… and this is what she did. The synagogue leader was right there watching all of this happen and Jesus was leading him into faith in Him.
When Jesus asked the question "Who touched my clothes?" He knew who touched His clothes but He wanted her to come and confess with her mouth publicly. When she came she came to the feet of Jesus. This is where we need to come, to the feet of Jesus and confess our sin to Him and put our trust and faith in Him. And when we have done this then we can go in peace for our faith has made us well.
The synagogue leader needed to see faith in action. He needed to see faith by believing and salvation through confession by his mouth. Now Jesus will take him into his trial just as He will take us into our trials and walk us through so that our faith in Him will grow stronger.
